As a small, robust girl with rosy cheeks, Maite smiled from the million-selling “Over the Hump” cover of the Kelly Family in 1994. What many didn’t see: She had to fight even then – against prejudices, mockery, and an industry that rarely forgives. But her father instilled a life lesson in her early on: “Life’s not fair – so make the most of it!” She has internalized those words and lives by them to this day.
