Marianne and Michael met in 1973 at the legendary Munich “Platzl” — and shortly thereafter, their joint musical journey began, quickly leading them into the hearts of an audience that loved folk music. With songs like “Rund samma, g’sund samma,” “Unser Land,” “Wann fängt denn endlich d’Musi an,” and many more, they created a musical legacy full of warmth, down-to-earth authenticity, and solidarity — a soundtrack for generations.

Their popularity grew over time — not only as singers but also as hosts of numerous folk music shows. Through formats like Lustige Musikanten, Superhitparade der Volksmusik, and “Heimatmelodie,” “Feste feiern,” and “Liebesgrüße”, they reached millions of viewers. Over 200 television broadcasts shaped their presence in German households and solidified them as a staple of folk musical entertainment.

However, for Marianne & Michael, success is not only measured in sales figures or ratings — but in their closeness to their fans. For decades, they accompanied their listeners during celebrations, holidays, and in tough times. Their warm, authentic nature made them a vessel for nostalgia, feelings of home, and familial ties. Under the umbrella of the MEWES Entertainment Group GmbH, the duo will kick off their grand farewell tour, Könige der Volksmusik Abschiedstournee, in 2024 — one last time live, with hits, memories, and the promise to enchant their fans once more. They will be accompanied by friends and colleagues like Stefan Mross, Anita Hofmann, and Die Ladiner — a fitting farewell for a duo that stood for genuine folk music for decades.

Though the farewell tour marks the end of their active time on stage — the legacy of Marianne & Michael will remain alive: In every song, in every melody, and in every “Servus” to their fans. Their story is a testament to what music can achieve: joy, home, community — and a smile that connects generations.
