CHOIR! CHOIR! CHOIR! – The Canadian Choir Project

CHOIR! CHOIR! CHOIR! is more than just a choir – it’s a global phenomenon that unites music lovers, the curious, and singers alike. Since its founding in 2011 in Toronto by Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (also known as “DaBu”), the choir has become a unique platform that blurs the line between audience and performance. Each session begins with a group rehearsal where participants learn a song in three-part harmony – and ends with an energetic performance that makes the audience a star.

The philosophy of CHOIR! CHOIR! CHOIR! is simple: “We teach, you sing!” – all voices are welcome, no prior experience is required. Whether at weekly meetings in Toronto or on global tours, the concept remains unchanged: music connects, heals, and creates community. Their performance of “Imagine” by John Lennon in December 2015 was particularly moving, organized as a benefit for Syrian refugees. The event was so successful that it raised enough money to fully support two families.

In 2016, the choir gained international attention with its rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” performed at the Art Gallery of Ontario shortly after Bowie’s death. This video went viral, leading to invitations to tribute concerts in New York City, including performances at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. Other notable appearances have included collaborations with Patti Smith, David Byrne, Rufus Wainwright, and even Kermit the Frog at the Lincoln Center in New York.

However, the true success of CHOIR! CHOIR! CHOIR! lies not only in the high-profile performances or millions of YouTube views. It’s the transformative power of music that brings people together, transcends barriers, and creates an inclusive community. In a world often marked by division, the choir offers a space where all voices matter and every moment is celebrated.
